During the Middle ages, when salt was a valuable commodity, salt would be kept on the table in metal or glass dishes known as cellars. Being granted the favor of sharing the salt cellar of the host was seen as a sign of great respect. Salt Cellars were used widely for centuries up until around 1950, when they were replaced with more modern shakers. Today, these table accessories are considered fashionable and are making a huge comeback. This satin finished Revere Salt Cellar comes with a matching spoon. A set of these would make a unique and fun gift!
